Why? During the Victorian Era, an individual such as Florence Nightingale would be expected to marry a man of means. She was forbade by her parents, in pursuing nursing because it was viewed as labor  work by the upper social classes. Despite her parents objections, Nightingale enrolled as a nursing student in 1844.

How? Nightingale bought the required equipment necessary for the care of her patients, established basic standards of care, such as; bathing, clean clothing, and adequate food. Basic care was provided by Nightingales team of nurses as well as she herself caring for her patients day and night, gaining her name, “Lady with the Lamp”. Nightingale earned the respect of the soldiers that she cared for during this time.

Social Media Etiquette

The rule that stuck out the most to me out of the two articles was the grammar and communication rule in the second article. This is something that to me personally drives me insane when I read a post on social media that has grammatical errors. I feel that it makes an individual look uneducated when they do not know how to properly use words such as; your and you’re or their, there, and they’re. If an employer is viewing your social media accounts and sees that you are incapable of using grammar correctly, it could have a major impact on your chances of getting the job or even receiving a call for an interview. Correct grammar is something that was taught to us from such an early age, using it improperly may give off the impression of laziness and ignorance.
